Our Guest House is adjacent to the No Place Like Home facility and is available strictly to mission teams and prospective adopting parents who are in Haiti to meet the requirement of the adoption process. Please obtain approval from Jacques before purchasing your airline tickets. The house is known within the orphanage as the “Pink House” because of the bright and cheery pink exterior; however, it is known by the neighbors as “kay blanc” or “house of the white folks” because most of our guests have been Caucasian!
The home has two levels, with the downstairs being used by the children for classrooms, meal preparation and dining.
The upstairs is used to accommodate guests. The view of the mountains from the upstairs balcony is spectacular. There are three bedrooms that are air-conditioned during the day. The spacious master bedroom has a queen bed and a full bathroom. The other two rooms have bunk beds that sleep four in one room and six in the other. These two bedrooms share a bathroom. The Guest House can accommodate 12 guests very comfortably.
The home is equipped with an electric converter system to maintain lights and the water purification system during power failures. In the guest area, there is a small refrigerator and microwave for use during the day and a propane stove. Wi-Fi Internet access is available in certain parts of the building. Ice chests are available for use. Ice, beverages and food items can be purchased at a nearby store. A cell phone is available for local and international calling for a fee of $10 US, which covers the cost of the phone card.
Accommodations are available for $25 per night, per person for 1-4 people. For groups of 5-12 people the discounted rate will be $20 per night, per person. Meals can be arranged at an extra charge of $10 per person, per day; however, many guests choose to bring their own food for meals.
We understand the cost involved in adoption and hope to defray some of the expense for adopting parents. Therefore, there is no room charge for adopting parents to stay in the Guest House. However, the $10 charge for meals will still apply if you would like meals to be provided. Whether you are adopting from No Place Like Home or anywhere in Haiti, the Guest House is available to you if rooms are available.
No Place Like Home is located just 10 minutes east of Toussaint Louvertuer International Airport (PAP) and 10-30 minutes from IBESR (Haitian Social Services), depending on traffic.
