How Much will $50 per Month Buy in Haiti?
In the United States, experts estimate it costs $14,000 per year to raise a child. In Haiti, an American dollar goes a long way, where it costs the No Place Like Home orphanage about $3,000 per year, or $250 per month to feed, house, clothe and educate each orphan child who lives with us.
To provide the safe and nurturing environment these children need while they await adoption, we need to rely on the generosity of people to make regular contributions to sponsor a child.
When your $50 per month is combined with four other monthly donations of $50 each, you can pay for:
- Groceries for all the children and live-in staff
- Clothes and shoes for the children
- All the educational materials needed to provide schooling
- Medical, dental and vision care for the children
- …and much more.
Children in Haiti continue to be in dire need of assistance as the country struggles to recover from the devastating earthquake of 2010.
A child sponsorship of just $50 per month goes a long way in Haiti to provide the necessities of life for these orphan children.
